Pharmacist Caught Stealing CDs
This is an article from a local Newcastle newspaper reporting about a pharmacist who had been helping himself to patient returned and out of date controlled drugs.
Reports from the Chronicle Live on the 11th Februabry 2008 were telling of a pharmacy in Newcastle where a phamacist had been helping himself to controlled drugs. The report also tells of the pharmacist taking the methadone register and not returning to work the next day, eventually sending it to the pharmacy in a carrier bag with a ''young lad''. As well as this he has been accused of 10 separate allegations over two periods of time. Click here Chronicle Live Report to read the full report.
In instances such as this the pharmacy would benefit from the use of the electronic Controlled Drugs Register because all drugs are securely monitored, all patient returns are documented safely and reported and the eCDR also has an inbuilt Methadone register making no reason for it to be used by personnel out of working hours.
