"Dance drug" can kill say experts
An article in the Guardian identifies a loophole in the law allowing the "dance drug" benzylpiperazine to be sold as fertiliser. The report urges the EU to consider a ban.
It has been reported that benzylpiperazine also know as the "dance drug" has been linked to a number of deaths and serious injuries. Although it is a prescription drug there are loopholes in the law which allows it to be used as a soil fertiliser and can be legally imported into the UK.
Originally designed as a cattle wormer, in the USA benzylpiperazine is classified as a schedule 1 drug as it is considered to be so dangerous.
