The Budget for health

The NHS will be celebrating it's 60th birthday with approximately £96 billion, almost double the budget of 10 years ago. This represents the largest sustained funding increase in NHS history.

Over the past 10 years the budget has paid for 79,000 new nurses and 35,000 new doctors, enabled 149 new hospitals to open or get on the way to being opened.

The report also comments on the reduction of waiting lists for heart operations and inpatient treatments and claims that better treatment for cancer and heart disease, had helped to increase life expectancy by 2.1 years for men and 1.4 years for women.
