Plan to tighten controlled drugs prescribing
In 2005 the BBC reported this story in their website. It claims that after the Shipman killings the rules on prescription rules for controlled drugs need to be tightened.
New regulations that have been called for include:
- Shortening prescription expiry dates for CDs from 91 to 28.
- Pharmacists would be required to document they amount of CDs they have
- And prescriptions by single GPs will also be able to be scrutinised.
